 Producers, consumers, and critics are never in the same relationship. If our sex lives were wikipedia, all exposed and all linking, "your" foreplay might link to "my" fantasy to "her" perfect and "his"  childhood, but it's all experienced in isolation. And consumers (especially those that provide the porn cash) will not be critics (beyond counting the cumshots and positions--which is admirable in its obsession). And so, while I completely agree with you, sex was always more than sex even before the internet. There were sea shanties sung by sailors and drawings on walls in places that were covered by volcanoes.
