Because at some dumb level all this theory comes down to: none of us read in a vacuum. The you or me that reads is intrinsically our performance to those who can "hold" us.

So I'm not actually asking you. I'm asking me. I don't know about succeeding, so much, but it's a framework for actually trying.

(And I love you for saying "a" sex. Brilliant.)

(I wasn't going to post this at all, because I thought it sounded stupid, but writing about Greenaway inspired me to not hold back so much. And I know this is pretty trite but I think you've influenced me as much as him. Thank you.)</description>
